Cannot connect to ownCloud

ownCloud - Dec 3 2011
not answered
Question:Hi all,

I'm trying to connect to ownCloud hosted on a VPS that i rent, i've installed ownCloud in the root of a domain, both in the public and private folder.

- Everything works & checks out fine via the web-interface no errors, etc.
- I can connect to webdav, but i cannot change anything. The error message states: Items can’t be copied to 'webdav.php' because you don’t have permission to read them.
- I cannot connect to CalDAV or CardDAV, the error message states: Access to account 'www.domainname.com' is not permitted. The server responded: '403' to operation 'CalDAVAccountRefreshQueueableOperation'.

Now, to me it seems that the rights are not in order, i followed the install instructions about chmodding the folder 'config' to 777 and 'data' to 750, even tried 770. So that can't be the problem.

The virtual server runs on centOS with Direct Admin, The only thing i changed from the default os/setup is that i installed 'suPHP' for my Wordpress (Network / Multisite) websites for easy management and updating within the backend, without the need to enter the FTP login data before updating the core and or plugins.

suPHP in short:
suPHP is a tool for executing PHP scripts with the permissions of their owners. It consists of an Apache module (mod_suphp) and a setuid root binary (suphp) that is called by the Apache module to change the uid of the process executing the PHP interpreter.

So to put this to the test i've installed ownCloud on a shared hosting account from a friend, where 'suPHP' wasn't installed on, and ownCloud worked perfectly.

i'm not sure if 'suPHP' is the problem, or that i need to do/activate something else in the VPS, my knowledge about centOS and Apache is very limited.
