How to get to the next video in the same directory easily?

GNOME - Dec 1 2013
Question:When a video is opened from Filemanager, vlc plays it, and I hit (previous and next video in the playlist), but there is no playlist, is it possible to get VLC to choose the next video from the same directory the current one was opened and there to take next in alphabetical order (or could be in the settings if next by modification time)?

So I am making a feature request at the same time if it is now possible yet.
