Some Questions

GNOME - Nov 10 2010
Question:Im pretty new.Ive got Fedora 13+gnome+metacity+gtk(2)
How to install
screenlets(in my usr/share... there is no screenlet file and if i try to make one the programm doesn't recognise it)
parts of themes(like bars etc..)

"Assuming that you've already downloaded the Screenlets program, go to Accessories Screenlets & select. Once running click Install, select Install Screenlet and click OK, then navigate to where the screenlets you have downloaded are." (source: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1238564)

To customize the outlook of your system open system-->preferences-->appearance. Then just drag and drop the theme files of icons and themes there and they should be installed. Then you can customize your outlook by clicking "customize" button in appearance and select the parts of what ever you like.

If you have somewhat speedy machine I recommend that you install emerald theme manager and emerald themes package

to install packages in fedora open root terminal and do:
yum install screenlets emerald emerald-themes gnome-themes-extras
yum is the package manager and gnome-themes-extras pulls a set of themes from fedora repositories and installs them for you. If you want to use emerald you need to install drivers for you 3d card.

These are not available in Fedora directly. So I recommend that you use a service called RPM Fusion to enable the needed software and possible some other stuff that fit to your personal preferences. http://rpmfusion.org/

I hope that this helps you to customize your desktop. The names may be a little different for some sections since I'm not using english as a default language of my desktop... with this said have a great time customizing your desktop experience
