how to add apps to owncloud???

ownCloud - Oct 26 2014
Question:I'm trying to add the app "LatexTex Editor and Compiler" to my owncloud 7.0.2. I have never successfully added a new app to owncloud. I'm really at a loss.

I have the files for the app in the apps2 folder. I added to the config file everything here.

I restarted apache2. What do I have to do to get the app to show up in the apps section on my cloud?

Thanks for any help!

Answer:Do you mean that you added the following snippet to your config file?

"apps_paths" => array (
0 => array (
"path" => OC::$SERVERROOT."/apps",
"url" => "/apps",
"writable" => false,
1 => array (
"path" => OC::$SERVERROOT."/apps2",
"url" => "/apps2",
"writable" => true,

The purpose of that is to direct owncloud to look in the /apps2 directory for user installed apps, so unzipping the Latex app and putting it in that directory should make it show up in the Apps Selection page.

You still need to be sure, however, that it is unzipped properly, and has the appropriate permissions to be read by apache.

Typically they should be rwxr-x--- or 750. you can ensure this by running
sudo chmod -R 750 /apps2

and owned by the user that runs your apache process, typically wwwrun or www-data, but you can check with
ps aux | grep apache

and ensure with
sudo chown -R /apps2

then restart apache, and check the apps selection page.

If it's still not there, you can try checking the log files for an error, or reverting the "apps_path" setting in your config file, moving the LaTeX app directory to /apps, and restarting apache.
