ownCloud display problem in Internet Explorer 7, 8

ownCloud - Nov 23 2011
Question:Thanks for all the effort with owncloud so far. It is very promising.
In IE7 and IE8 the main menu is corrupted and unusable (as per picture 1). I have not tested IE9 but I need to support as far back as IE7 anyway.
Chrome 15.0.874.121 on Linux is fine, as is Firefox 7.0.

I am using the latest git version (reports as ownCloud 3 alpha 1).

ownCloud display problem in Internet Explorer 7, 8

Answer:ownCloud uses SVGs for icons, which means no native support in IE < 9.

There is an adobe plugin for IE but you'll have to google it. And I can't say for sure if it supports SVGs set as CSS backgrounds.

Also why exactly do you need IE7 support anyway?

I'm just a lowly network guy. The server team control the windows server environment.
We use Citrix. I am told memory usage of IE under Citrix is better with IE7 than IE8. IE9 was not out when the environment was built, and as you can imagine, we can't simply change one app without major environment testing. We need stability as we support about 1000 users.
IE7 vs IE8 is moot anyway, since neither work.
IE9 was only released in March 2011. Believe it or not, that's not enough time for a small enterprise to complete existing projects, test and rollout IE9.
Firefox is apparently unfriendly under Citrix and suffers even more from the continual version updates. It's not enterprise friendly.
So, I need IE7 support and without it I'm afraid I can't use owncloud.
I still appreciate the work from the project team, it's just a shame I do not have the skill to assist in making it work under IE7. (or 8).
